As the United Nations steps up its call for methane action and global methane reduction targets take shape, rumen-based methane measurement and reduction technology has been presented in the United States.

MeTech Holdings (CEO Park Chan-mok), a livestock methane measurement and mitigation technology company, took part in the Climate Agriculture track of the Korea Climate Tech Summit 2026 (KCTS 2026), held in New York on 25 September during Climate Week NYC 2026 (20–27 September). The company introduced its rumen IoT capsule-based methane measurement and mitigation technology, along with its livestock carbon data infrastructure business model, to a global audience.

KCTS 2026 was an official affiliate event of Climate Week NYC 2026, held at Penn 2 in New York on 25 September, bringing together Korean and U.S. climate tech startups, investors and corporate participants.

The international community is accelerating its response to methane. In June, the UN Secretary-General issued a Call to Action on Methane covering three sectors including agriculture, framing methane reduction as a central task in addressing the climate crisis.

The Global Methane Pledge, joined by 159 countries and the European Union, is also pursuing a collective target of cutting global anthropogenic methane emissions by at least 30 percent by 2030 against 2020 levels.

The core message MeTech Holdings presented was “Connected Cow to Connected Carbon” — the shift from smart livestock farming to carbon management. Building on continuous animal-level data, the company set out livestock carbon data infrastructure as its central strategy, linking herd health management through to methane data, carbon accounting, low-carbon certification and carbon markets.

Its technology portfolio comprises the Methane Monitor Capsule for measurement, the Methane Reducer Capsule for mitigation, and the Bio Capsule for collecting individual animal health data. The business model expands in stages from capsule sales to data and SaaS, low-carbon certification and carbon markets.

As methane reduction targets tighten, the livestock sector faces growing demand for data that can quantify and track emissions, and for measurement, reporting and verification (MRV) frameworks for greenhouse gas emissions.

Against this backdrop, MeTech Holdings plans to pursue low-carbon certification and carbon market linkage based on animal-level methane data. The company will also use New York as its base for entering the U.S. market, completing the establishment of its U.S. entity within the year and expanding cooperation with local investors and companies.

“At KCTS 2026 during Climate Week NYC, we were able to introduce MeTech’s livestock methane measurement and mitigation capsule technology and our livestock carbon data infrastructure business model to the global climate tech market,” said Park Chan-mok, CEO of MeTech Holdings. “As the international community places greater weight on methane reduction and data-driven carbon management, we will complete our U.S. entity within the year and expand cooperation with global investors and companies from our New York base.”

He added, “With the United States and Brazil as our two axes, we will grow into a global livestock carbon data infrastructure company by expanding a business that links measurement, mitigation, certification and carbon markets on the basis of animal-level methane data.”

On the outlook for carbon credit markets tied to livestock methane reduction, market research firm Growth Market Reports projects that the global market for carbon credits related to livestock methane reduction will grow from about USD 1.87 billion in 2024 to about USD 6.09 billion in 2033, a compound annual growth rate of 13.8 percent, with North America identified as the largest market.
