MeTechHoldings, a livestock methane gas research startup led by CEO Chan-Mok Park, announced on May 16 that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Business Lolland-Falster (BLF), a Danish government agency, in Copenhagen, Denmark. Through this agreement, the two parties will jointly promote projects for the measurement and reduction of livestock methane gas emissions.

On May 14, an MOU signing ceremony was held in Copenhagen, Denmark, attended by Steve Kim, CSO of MeTechHoldings and an international lawyer, and Steffen Lund, Director of BLF Denmark.

The BLF, a Danish government agency that recently signed an MOU with MeTechHoldings, is a business and regional development organization under the Danish government. It is dedicated to driving innovation and the expansion of carbon-neutral agriculture by collaborating with promising startups, research institutions, and trade associations.

Chan-Mok Park, CEO of MeTechHoldings, said, “Denmark is the first country in Europe to implement a burp tax, imposing an annual charge of 100 euros per cow. We plan to provide scientific and accurate methane emission services to the government and farms through scientific measurements using methane capsules. Based on BLF’s Danish and international development network, we have agreed to jointly develop and implement the project. We are also considering the possibility of future cooperation with other European countries.

CEO Chan-Mok Park further stated, “By utilizing methane gas and healthcare AI big data as a foundation, we will implement a low-carbon livestock model and secure a competitive certification framework in the global carbon credit market. We are committed to contributing to the realization of climate neutrality by reducing greenhouse gases worldwide.”

MeTechHoldings will provide Denmark’s BLF with methane gas management technology and related information, and will officially begin technical cooperation for the development of the Danish market. The main contents of the MOU include: ▲ Promotion of POC projects in Denmark, ▲ Collection of data on livestock methane gas production, ▲ Identification and sharing of best practices for reduction, ▲ Joint development and cooperation on methane reduction capsules, ▲ Establishment of a data platform targeting Denmark and the EU, ▲ Exploration of local production infrastructure and manufacturing opportunities, ▲ Establishment of Metec’s Danish subsidiary and local workforce recruitment.

MeTechHoldings’ ‘Methane Capsule’ is the world’s first commercially successful orally administered methane gas measurement device. It measures methane produced during the fermentation process in a cow’s stomach in real time and transmits the data to the cloud. This enables the quantification of emissions for each entity, offering greater precision and field applicability compared to conventional emission factor methods.
